چکیده

social tagging, as a novel approach to information organization and discovery, has been widely adopted in many Web2.0 applications. The tags provide a new type of information that can be exploited by recommender systems. Nevertheless, the sparsity of ternary interaction data limits the performance of tag-based collaborative filtering. This paper proposes a random-walk-based algorithm to deal with the sparsity problem in social tagging data, which captures the potential transitive associations between users and items through their interaction with tags. In particular, two smoothing strategies are presented from both the user-centric and item-centric perspectives. Experiments on real-world data sets empirically demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed

Improving FolkRank With Item-Based Collaborative Filtering

Collaborative tagging applications allow users to annotate online resources. The result is a complex tapestry of interrelated users, resources and tags often called a folksonomy. Folksonomies present an attractive target for data mining applications such as tag recommenders. A challenge of tag recommendation remains the adaptation of traditional recommendation techniques originally designed to ...

A Random Walk Method Using Trust Factor in Collaborative Filtering

Collaborative filtering is one of the most widely used techniques for recommendation system which has been successfully applied in many applications. However, it suffers from the cold start users who rate only a small fraction of the available items. In addition, these methods can not indicate confidence they are for recommendation. Trust-based recommendation methods assume the additional knowl...

A New Similarity Measure Based on Item Proximity and Closeness for Collaborative Filtering Recommendation

Recommender systems utilize information retrieval and machine learning techniques for filtering information and can predict whether a user would like an unseen item. User similarity measurement plays an important role in collaborative filtering based recommender systems. In order to improve accuracy of traditional user based collaborative filtering techniques under new user cold-start problem a...

Exploring graph-based approaches for non-binary rating prediction CS224W (Analysis of Networks) course project

In this project, we explore graph-based methods to predict the rating that a user would give to a product. This is the central problem in creating a recommendation system and has been studied in great detail. Most standard approaches attempt the binary recommendation problem – estimating if a person would like/dislike an item, or if one person should be recommended as a friend to another on Fac...

Understanding the User: Personomy Translation for Tag Recommendation

This paper describes our approach to the challenge of graphbased tag recommendation in social bookmarking services. Along the ECML PKDD 2009 Discovery Challenge, we design a tag recommender that accurately predicts the tagging behavior of users within the Bibsonomy bookmarking service. We find that the tagging vocabularies among folksonomy users differ radically due to multilingual aspects as w...
